Quarantine Journal : Hilary Pearlson, Akashic Records Reader, Healing Guide, and founder of The Dreamerie

May 19, 2020

Hilary Pearlson is an Akashic Records Reader, Healing Guide, and founder of the conscious lifestyle platform, The Dreamerie

She shares with us her daily flow and reflections during this time of personal space in quarantine that we all are experiencing together.

Self-care flow

During this time I am craving simplicity in every way possible. My commitment to my health is always my top priority but even more so now, as I live with a compromised immune system.

I have been spending most of my time offline and off social media as I find it pulls me away from my center. Instead, I have been opting for connecting with family and friends through Zoom and Facetime calls, doing Akashic Records readings, creating new healing offerings for my community, reading (right now Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza), and giving myself a lot of space to just be.

The+Dreamerie+Bathtub.jpeg

Movement

I am alternating between Melissa Wood Health when my body is craving a flow, 305 Fitness steaming workouts when I want to dance and walks in my neighborhood as often as possible.

Favorite Products

The Instant Pot for nourishing grain and veggie bowls, Ona Organics enliven face mask and Living Libations best skin ever face oil, my tea kettle for non-stop tea drinking throughout the day, Mate The Label sustainably made sets, and my beloved noise-canceling headphones.

Mental and Spiritual Practice

Each morning I do a silent meditation focusing on breath awareness followed by prayer, writing, and tea. Throughout the day I am consistently checking-in with myself and how I am feeling, taking breaks when needed and prioritizing my mental health.

Quarantine Journal : Kjord Davis, Transformation Coach, Kundalini Educator

May 7, 2020

Kjord Davis is a Transformation Coach, Kundalini Educator, Astrologer, Sound Healer, and Co-founder of @indigoyogalab

He shares with us his daily flow and reflections during this time of personal space in quarantine that we all are experiencing together.

Self-Care Flow

What an incredible and poignant time to be alive. This collective pause has really allowed the space for me to unwind, refresh and re-prioritize. The momentum of the “DOingness” was not sustainable and I was inching the black hole of all out-burnout. It has been so great to release any old cords of attachment (pun intended!). The gift of this time has really been to marinate in the rest and renewal of BE-ing at home. That being said, my must-haves that have added to my now in-home self-care and spa experience are, Recherche Beauté’s Aura IV Essence. It is so calming and soothing for the redness I sometimes get in the center of my face. Sidenote - I am obsessed with and love this entire line! Each product luxuriates and activates in its own unique way. They compliment each other so well that it is difficult to call out one individually, as it is an entire system I cannot live without.

Mental and Spiritual Practice

My daily mind and body renewal and reconnection practice is Kundalini yoga. It scrubs and clears my mind and directs my mind back to the ways of my heart - my true navigator. Kundalini is known to work directly on the nervous system, of which mine currently feels very tender and vulnerable in its new skin, however it opens me up to uncover and discover the gifts of these fragile times.

Favorite Products

I have been obsessing over mother nature’s plant medicine and life force nectars, amping up my Young Living Essential Oils collection. Currently, my favorite is Australian Kuranya. It is great for waking up the mind, going deep into meditation as well as lifting my spirit. Young Living smells so pure to me and as we absorb everything into the skin, I want the best!

My final must-haves are Sunpotion’s Transcendent Elixirs. Before becoming ME everyday, I start my day with one full drop of each of their elixirs in my morning tea, a concoction of Ashwaganda, Triphala, Bacopa, Shatavari and then I add a little trace minerals with Lotus Blooming Herbs Shilajit.

Quarantine Journal : Nitsa Citrine, Creative Director, Artist, Alchemist

May 1, 2020

Nitsa Citrine is a Creative Director, Artist, and Alchemist.

She shares with us her daily flow and reflections during this time of personal space in quarantine that we all are experiencing together.

Self-care flow

Tuning inwards, finding pleasure and gratitude in the everyday, cherishing my personal and family's  health and my community’s safety, rooting into self care and creative projects , surrendering to and trusting the cosmos!

Movement

Daily walks in the neighborhood, restorative yoga, holistic cooking,  spontaneous solo dance parties…also - cleaning the house - a good vacuum can make all the difference!

I particularly love Elena Brower’s yoga classes these days  - you can take / find them on glo.com along with many other great yoga classes.

Cooking! Baking!  Fermenting! Pickling!

I started “Quickling”  (my recently invented term for Quick Pickling) my veggies and finally got around to making my own ferments - in the past I have been too lazy to do it but if ever there was a time to start it is NOW!

Favorite Products

A few favorite products you can’t live without right now:

Package free shop’s cotton biodegradable scrunchies (they are super soft and as my hair is constantly getting tangled and these make all the difference)  and Hand rolled copal and palo santo  incense from Incausa - clears energy, purifies the air, and smells earthy and heavenly!

Osea’s Hyaluronic Serum - to keep skin dewy, bright and hydrated

Fresh CSA boxes form our local California farmers

Biodynamic wine from my dear friend Barbara at Cooper Mountain Wines - her pinot noir is divine!

Mental and Spiritual Practice

Feeling Gratitude for whatever presents itself each day.

I find that staying rooted in the frequency of gratitude helps me to keep an open mind and heart. First thing when I wake up I articulate my gratitude that morning - for my health, family, friends, partner, creative projects - whatever surfaces in the moment.

This, along with daily seated meditation, tea ceremony and breathwork help me to stay balanced. I recently took a couple weeks off IG and that was amazing and really cleared up some mental space.... I want to make it a habit to get offline regularly.

Most essentially, giving myself permission to slow down and rest in the unknown. There is an overload of information and energy circulating at this time and it feels important (to me) to utilize this moment  to be gentle with myself and others - and trust that we can learn and grow, with love and compassion, from this global crisis.

Quarantine Journal : Emily Rose Shaw, Plant-Based Holistic Health Coach

April 21, 2020

Emily Rose Shaw is a Plant-Based Holistic Health Coach based in Los Angeles.

She shares with us her daily flow and reflections during this time of personal space in quarantine that we all are experiencing together.

Self-Care Flow

These extended periods of time at home can be the perfect opportunity to establish some new health-promoting habits - not just during a pandemic - but for the long term. Health and a robust immune system are really the reflection of all the consistent little habits we practice daily.

At the top of my immune-boosting list is sleep, as it's directly linked to the strength of the immune system. According to Ayurveda, the oldest complete holistic health system originating from India, getting to bed by 10pm allows you to maximize the natural detoxification processes the body goes through. I've been rising early most days, about 6am to sit and read with my tea (yerba mate) before meditating. The foods I've been favoring are hot, freshly cooked meals, a lot of soups and kitchari, the traditional Ayurvedic stew of lentils and rice which is so easy to digest and absolutely delicious! I'm cooking with a lot of spices; curry powder, turmeric, mustard seeds, cloves, black peppercorns, cumin seed, coriander, fennel seed and fresh ginger root. Breakfast has been some version of a stewed fruit bowl, lots of cooked apples and pears with spices that make it taste like pie filling - and then I'll layer in superfoods, quinoa flakes or oats, coconut butter, almond milk, protein powder and cardamom. I've been buying my veggies at the Hollywood Farmers Market or purchasing a CSA box through Flamingo Estate to support our local farmers and load up on immune-boosting fresh produce.

The Spring time is also an ideal time to cleanse the body of toxins that accumulate in the fatty tissue over the winter months. The extra time at home is perfect for a deeper cleanse experience. I just started a 14 day cleanse by world renowned Ayurvedic expert Dr. John Douillard of LifeSpa called the Colorado Cleanse, which is designed to eliminate even the harder to purge fat soluble toxins, detox the lymphatic system and reset digestion. It is largely a non-fat kitchari diet which provides nourishment and protein while extremely healing to the digestive tract. In addition, drinking melted ghee upon rising pulls the fat-soluble toxins down and helps to repair the intestinal walls. Ayurvedic cleansing is truly amazing, the most complete I know of.

Another wonderful self-care practice is expressing your creativity! Whatever that means for you. Recently I’ve reconnected with my background in art and have been having a lot of fun tying digital collage into my health coaching practice. I’m a big believer in finding ways to unite all your passions into purely unique expressions of yourself and the lens through which you see the world.

Movement

I’ve been walking or practicing yoga daily. I was hiking every other day, but with the trails closed I go for walks up the canyon roads that have an incline, it's really beautiful. Getting out into nature everyday is a must. At the end, sometimes I'll take my shoes off and stand barefoot in the grass to ground. I'm also practicing yoga at home with Bryan Kest's Poweryoga.com that I've enjoyed for over a decade. I like the options to filter for the perfect class, whatever your mood.

Plant-Based Transformation Collage FINAL.png

Favorite Products

I like Organic Tulsi Tea, Traditional Medicinals Echinacea Plus Tea, in addition to my regular Eco Teas Yerba Mate or matcha I'll drink daily. I've really been taking this opportunity to practice food as medicine, and have been making a daily decoction of mint, black peppercorns, cloves, tulsi leaves, chopped ginger root and cinnamon stick which helps my lungs breathe deeper. I also love Flora Ex Machina’s Royal Ghee - both the Original Flavor which is chock full of greens perfect for Springtime, and the Gold Flavor which is specifically formulated to help boost the immune system and reduce inflammation. Every ingredient is meticulously sourced and is pure medicine while also tasting like delicious frosting.

Mental and spiritual practice

The spiritual practice I've adored my entire life, since my mother taught me at age 10 is Transcendental Meditation. I practice it twice daily and it helps to relieve stress at a very deep level. Another practice so effective for the nervous system, lymphatic system, ridding the body of toxins, skin health, mental clarity, healthy muscles and joints and a deep sleep aid is abhyanga, self-oil massage. I have been practicing it daily at the end of the day. It makes such a difference! You can create a little spa environment at home to deeply rejuvenate. Warm the sesame or coconut oil gently in a pan and sit on an old towel in the bedroom or bathroom. Give yourself a massage (see link above for instructions), light some incense, a candle or aromatherapy, play some relaxing music or listen to a podcast. It’s heaven.

Quarantine Journal : Dr. Christina Kousouli N.D., Naturopathic Doctor, Herbalist, Homeopath and Meditation Teacher

April 16, 2020

Dr. Christina Kousouli N.D. is a Naturopathic Doctor, Herbalist, Homeopath and Meditation Teacher practicing at  drkousouli.com.

She shares with us her daily flow and reflections during this time of personal space in quarantine that we all are experiencing together.

Self-Care Flow

My body has been craving gentle nourishment. The gentleness of receiving my breath has carried me in ways that I cannot describe. The peace that fills my vessel through breath is so healing. I adore the time I have to prepare my own foods that provide the deepest of nourishment to my cells and soul. I’ve wandered into new neighborhoods, listening to the spring birds on my morning walks. I stop and marvel at the droplets of dew on the grass and scent of soil. Feeling fresh air and wind on my body is a blessing that I appreciate every day.

I have been exploring new audio meditations while taking long baths infused with birch leaves. This medicine has been used by Native Americans as their cure-all to relax the muscles, ease nervous tension and quiet the mind. Frankincense has been a beautiful ally, burned or ingested for its calming and healing properties.

Movement

In the mornings of seclusion, I wake up before dawn. I play music that relaxes my body and soothes my soul. I rely on breath to guide my physical movements as I relinquish bodily tension and control to the resonance of the music. This is followed by an intense physical workout until my body craves rest again. I lay on the floor full of life force and energy and then meditate again as the sunrises and the birds start chirping. I saw a dove fly over to my window today, and that brought me so much joy!

Favorite Products

I have so many favorite products, yet I notice that there are a few that I cannot live without. I cannot live without Live Spring Water or Mountain Valley Spring Water. I absolutely need fresh greens, and luckily, we have been able to have fresh greens almost every day. Spirulina has been a godsend, amplifying the nourishment of my foods. I have been really enjoying B-CHILL honey from Beekeepers Naturals in my daily tea. I love applying Spikenard essential oil from Stillpoint Aromatics to my hands and feet, Female Balance Essential Oil blend by Floracopeia applied to my pulse points and Frankincense oil from Young Living applied to my adrenals, chest, third eye and thyroid. I drink sips of Quinton Isotonics infused with scalar biofeedback energy and that feels so refreshing and cleansing to body, mind, heart and spirit.

Mental and Spiritual Practice

In times of great uncertainty, some of the deepest healing moments and self-realizations can manifest to life. I have found that in the space and time of the COVID-19 quarantine, I have been shown my deepest paralyzing fears and my eternal love for humanity. In waves throughout the day, I gently tell myself to quiet and slow down to the rhythm and pace of my body. I listen for hours on end to the whispers of my heart until they become louder. My heart becomes the only message I can hear. This and only this feeds my soul and body in ways that nothing else can. It centers and grounds me. Listening to my internal guiding system returns my mind and body to the path my soul can only choose to follow. I eagerly open to this seemly vast time of solitude to deepen my body's connection to earth and soul.

Quarantine Journal : Mel Nahas, Co-founder of Conscious City Guide

April 9, 2020

Mel Nahas is the co-founder of Conscious City Guide.

She shares with us her daily flow and reflections during this time of personal space in quarantine that we all are experiencing together.

Self-Care Flow

I am very grateful to be surrounded by nature, have a dog and a bathtub. These 3 things bring me connection, joy and relaxation. I am out in nature and walk and play with my dog Pippet each day and try have a bath every few days to relax my nervous system. I know a lot of people don't have any of these things and this privilege is even more amplified for me now, so I am not taking any of them for granted.

Movement

This is an area that I think I'm actually doing MORE of in isolation :) With all the incredible Live Streams happening, I've been able to tune in with a couple of my regular teachers: Kyle Miller @ Love Yoga and a daily pilates mat challenge with Colleen from Atwill Pilates  as well as join in some new fun things I don’t usually get to do like dance and booty breaking with Ryan Heffington. I cherish the walks on our trail with my dog and also experiencing new movement teachers through our programming on Conscious City Guide called The Digital Redirect. We have live stream gatherings Thursday - Sunday @ 5PM LA time and movement classes every Sunday @ 10AM.

Favorite Products

Cooking + Food is a creative process as well as so pleasurable for Taurean me :) I'm sticking to fresh produce: dark leafy greens, lots of fresh herbs and citrus as much as I can. I am very lucky to be surrounded by a couple of great farms within 3 miles of me. I love Plumcot Farm and my Sunday Farmer's Market.

Mental and Spiritual Practice

Running my company Conscious City Guide has kept my mental cogs turning. Our team created a new offering very quickly in mid-March called The Digital Redirect and it has kept us all creatively and mentally stimulated. It's the space we want to continue holding for our event creators who've either had to cancel or postpone their events at this time as well as for us seekers, wanting to continue our connections and conscious expansion as we all ride this wave.  I hope that our Live Stream Gatherings can offer everyone some mental and spiritual solace. I'm also making sure that I acknowledge and sit with the spectrum of emotions, triggers and blocks coming up for me and the collective right now. I process them in the morning after my daily meditation + tea ceremony practice, or in the evening when I'm journaling and taking inventory of anything that has come up in the day and unblocking and calling in my expanders - following my friend Lacy's program To Be Magnetic or studying the frequency and energetics in my being + body through the Water Tiger Community with SriMati.

Quarantine Journal : Peter Nguyen, Recherche Beauté & Indigo Lab

April 7, 2020

Peter Nguyen is the founder of Recherche Beauté & co-founder of Indigo Lab.

He shares with us his daily flow and reflections during this time of personal space in quarantine that we all are experiencing together.

Self-Care Flow

Some self-care rituals I have immersed myself in during these times are preparing and cooking nourishing and nutritious foods and dishes to feed my body, soul and build my strength and immunity. I am of Vietnamese descent, so I have been experimenting with a lot of my mother’s traditional Vietnamese recipes, by getting creative and putting my own vegan and California farm-to-table twist for each recipe, such as my own interpretation of the pho broth, made with nutrient-dense vegetables purchased from local farmer’s markets and Erewhon. I make a large batch of which I can freeze, store and prepare so that I can sip on throughout the day to keep immunity strong and healthy, especially during these times.

I have a background in beauty, so beauty self-care rituals are a must always. I have my own skin care line of which I use religiously, but with the amount of time I am spending at home these days, I have been experimenting and formulating a lot of my own concoctions. I made my own rose water to ingest and use as a skin toner with fresh organic garden rose petals and Mountain Valley Spring Water. I have also made some beautiful body oil infusions with golden jojoba oil and rose hip seed oil, infusing them in glass mason jars with dried calendula, rose petals, lavender, chamomile and yarrow. I have also been taking a lot of baths, of which I will infuse my baths with oat flour, goat milk, baking soda, dried rose petals, honey and a few drops of sandalwood essential oil. My skin feels so soft after and I literally will just float right into a peaceful night’s sleep after.

And lastly, the most important act of self-care I have been immersed in is really taking this time to connect with my loved ones, whether it be via FaceTime, Zoom classes or phone calls, connecting with loved ones has been very nurturing and nourishing to my heart and soul. It is such a beautiful gift to be able to really take time to talk, connect and share stories and experiences with people you love and inspire you.

thumbnail-1.jpg

Movement

I normally live a very active life, so movement is very important to me. Prior to all of this, I held the record for taking the most classes at Barry’s Bootcamp since the new year started, so to be self-quarantined has been very challenging for me. But fortunately, Barry’s Bootcamp has been offering IG Live at-home workout classes I have recently delved into and I love it, as it feels great to move and contract all of the muscles throughout my body and feeling the circulation that makes me feel alive within my body.

Walking my French Bulldog, Luna outside in our neighborhood, beautiful local parks and along the beach has not only been a necessity for her, but a beautiful gift for myself to be able to breath fresh air (the pollution levels in LA have dissipated immensely due to no one being outside and driving), get my dose of vitamin D from the sun, and additional movement in through walking and running with my dog.

Favorite Products

My favorite products I cannot live without right now are my Livon Liposomal Vitamin C packets, Quicksilver Scientific Liposomal Glutathione to strengthen my immunity. And I have been proactively trying to ween myself off of coffee and caffeine in the mornings, so I started using Sunpotion’s Bacopa Transcendent Elixir, and one dropper underneath my tongue gives me that boost of mental clarity and energy without the caffeine. I am obsessed! Another product I can’t live without right now, especially with the state that our world is currently in, in order calm my mind from the barrage of news and developments, I use Bach Original Flower Remedies White Chestnut Extract to calm my mind. Another product I cannot live without and literally living in are my custom made RG Kimono kimono robes made of luxurious fabrics such as sustainable cashmere, silks and bamboo rayon.  It is as if I have wrapped myself in a cocoon made of pure love and intention woven into every stitch by my beloved friend and designer, Rita Ghanime. They are not only comfortable, but also stylish. Who says you can’t feel stylish during quarantine?! And last but not least, I swear by my Recherche Beauté Rose Sauvage Gentle Resurfacing Treatment, a daily treatment that’s smells as though I am waking through a rose garden to start my day. I apply first thing in the morning to tone, gently exfoliate, combat puffiness and brighten my skin before I jump in the shower to rinse it off.

Mental and Spiritual Practice

A devoted and routine mental and spiritual practice is the absolute most important gift we can give ourselves especially during these times. This year has not disappointed in terms of providing us with shocking news and developments. And whether we are aware of it or not, it is absolutely shocking to our nervous systems. My daily practice of Kundalini yoga and meditation with my partner and teacher Kjord Davis has been my saving grace. Known as the yoga of awareness, it not only strengthens our sensitivity to what is unfolding before us, it also strengthens our nervous systems to be able to handle the incessant “shock and awes” we are confronted with. It connects us to our higher consciousness to be able to deeply understand and comprehend what is happening around us, and also grounds us into our bodies through connecting to our breath and feeling the electricity of our bodies.

I have also been delving more deeply into astrology with Kjord as well. His guidance, knowledge and connection to the cosmos has been such an incredible tool for me, like a personal road map for me on how to navigate these times based upon my own connection to the universe.

I have also been doing remote spiritual healing sessions with my friend Jessica Renee of Live Fully. She is based in Hawaii, and brings the serene and calming energy of Hawaii into our sessions with deeply profound sensitivity and connection to higher realms of consciousness. I emerge feeling calmer, more connected and with crystal-clear vision based upon her guidance.
